Terms of use
1. About these terms
These terms apply when you use Week by Week, provided by DXBE Limited (company number 8479537, NZBN 9429050841509), trading as Week by Week, 70 Somerset Terrace, Stoke, Nelson 7011, New Zealand. By creating an account or using Week by Week, you agree to them. Schools that buy Week by Week also agree to our school agreement. How we handle personal information is explained in our privacy policy.
2. Who can use Week by Week
Through your school: you need to be 13 or older and have a valid join code from your school or organisation. On your own: you need to be 13 or older. If you're under 16, a parent or caregiver needs to agree first. We email them a one-time link. Until they agree, your account can't use the AI coach or pay. If you're 16 or 17, please ask a parent or caregiver before you pay. Please give your real age – it decides who you can meet in Connect, and we don't check ID.
3. Your account
- Keep your password and recovery code to yourself. One account per person.
- Please use a nickname, not your real name, and don't put contact details in your profile.
- Tell your school or us straight away if you think someone else has used your account.
4. What Week by Week is – and isn't
Week by Week is an AI coach that helps you think about your strengths, options and next steps. It is not professional careers, financial, legal, medical or mental-health advice, and it can't promise any result. The AI can be wrong or out of date. Job listings, courses and pay information come from third parties – always check them with the employer or provider. Read more in AI & wellbeing.
5. Using it fairly
- Don't enter other people's personal information (like names or contact details) without their permission.
- Don't use Week by Week to bully, harass, threaten or deceive anyone, or to create anything unlawful or harmful.
- Don't try to break, overload, copy or get around the service or its limits, or access anyone else's account.
Messages that break these rules – abuse, threats, hate, anything sexual, or asking for help with something illegal – aren't sent, and you'll see why. Talking about hard things, like feeling low or thoughts of hurting yourself, is always okay: the AI coach will listen and point you to people who can help. In Connect, under-18s can't share phone numbers, addresses or social media names.
6. Your content and ours
What you write stays yours. You allow us to store and process it, and to send it to our AI provider, only so we can provide Week by Week to you. The Week by Week software, design, videos and name belong to us. If you send us feedback, we may use it to improve Week by Week.
7. Prices, AI credits and availability
Through your school: if you join with your school's code, Week by Week is free for you – your school pays and you never see a payment screen. You can use AI credits from your school's shared pool: up to 200 in your first 7 days after joining (your starter week, once per account), then up to 60 a week (Monday to Sunday, New Zealand time), and up to 1,000 a month. If your school's plan ends, AI features and editing pause, but you can still log in and read your work for at least 120 days. To keep going, you can choose a plan of your own (below): your account then moves out of your school, your school no longer sees it, and everything you've saved stays. If you're under 16, a parent or caregiver has to say OK before the plan can start. They pay for it.
On your own: you choose a weekly, monthly or yearly plan, as shown on our pricing page – currently NZ$5.90 a week, NZ$19.90 a month or NZ$149 a year. Prices include GST. If you're 16 or 17, ask a parent or caregiver before you pay. If you're under 16, they pay.
- Credits: the weekly plan includes 60 AI credits for each week you pay for, except your first paid week: a starter week with up to 200 (once per account, so not if you've already had one through your school). The monthly plan includes 260 credits at the start of each month you pay for. The yearly plan includes 260 credits at the start of each month of the year. Included credits don't carry over to the next week or month.
- AI work that starts by itself: through your school or on your own, some AI work starts without a tap. For example, the AI coach thinks your latest changes through after you change an answer. It also updates your recommendations after a chat reply has changed your profile. This uses credits like any other AI action. These two are announced first, with roughly how many credits they use, and “Not now” stops them. Small checks, such as one after you change an answer, run without a notice. So does mapping “Your journey” the first time you open it, which uses about 6–12 credits.
- Renewal: your plan renews automatically and is charged to your card in advance at the start of each week, month or year, until you cancel.
- Cancelling: you can cancel any time in the app. Your plan then runs to the end of the week, month or year you've paid for, and nothing more is charged.
- Switching: you can switch between the weekly, monthly and yearly plans at any time in the app, under Settings › Plan & usage. The new plan starts straight away. You pay its price now, less the unused part of your current plan. Included credits you haven't used don't carry over. If the unused part of a yearly plan is more than the new price, the rest is kept as credit for your next payments – it isn't paid out. The app tells you this before you confirm.
- Yearly plan: 30 days before it renews, we email a reminder to the address you used for payment, with the amount, the renewal date, how to cancel and how to get a refund. If you ask us within 14 days of buying or renewing a yearly plan, we refund that payment in full and end the plan.
- Top-ups: while you have an active plan, you can buy 60 extra AI credits in the app for NZ$2.90, up to 2 times a day and 4 times a month. Credits you buy don't expire while your account is active. If you cancel your plan, any you haven't used stay in your account and you can keep using them – or ask us and we'll refund them.
- Fair use: to protect you from runaway costs – for example if someone else gets into your account – each account can use at most 1,000 AI credits a month, including credits you buy. On the monthly and yearly plans, there's no weekly limit.
Refunds: payments for a week, month or year that has already started, and credits you have already used, aren't refunded, except for a yearly plan within 14 days and for unused credits you bought (both above), or where the law requires it (for example under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993). If we close your account without you having broken these terms, we refund anything you paid for the time after it closes, and any credits you bought and haven't used.
Speed limit: every account, through your school or on your own, can use at most 30 AI actions in 10 minutes; tiny ones like follow-up questions count separately, up to 80.
We'll give you at least 30 days' notice of a price change, and it applies from your next payment after that. When your credits run out, or your school has used its pool and a free extra 10%, AI features pause until new credits arrive (on your own plan, you can also add some); everything else keeps working. We work hard to keep Week by Week running, but we can't guarantee it will always be available or free of errors, and we may change features over time.
8. Suspension and deletion
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts others at risk. After three blocked messages within 30 days, your account is paused until a person in our team has looked at it; you can still sign in and download your data. If three different people report or block you in Connect, your Connect access is paused until we've checked. Think it's a mistake? Email hello@week-by-week.com. You can delete your account at any time in the app or through your school. If you have a paid plan that renews, cancel it first under Plan & usage.
9. Your rights under consumer law
Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under New Zealand law that can't be excluded, including the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and the Fair Trading Act 1986. As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for decisions you make based on the AI coach's suggestions, or for indirect loss.
10. Changes, law and contact
We may update these terms. If a change is significant, we'll tell you in the app before it applies. These terms are governed by New Zealand law and New Zealand courts have jurisdiction. If something goes wrong, please talk to us first: hello@week-by-week.com.
